OM MANI PADME HUM
Om Mani Padme Hum is known as a healing mantra of love and compassion. When practiced daily it is said to awaken a heightened blissful state in the chanter.
The Dalai Lama has praised its power to purify the mind and cultivate inner wisdom in the chanter. The recitation of this mantra is widely thought to aid you on the path to enlightenment.
When we chant, our body, heart and mind come into deep contemplation. Our inner wisdom is revealed, so that we can adhere to the Six Paramittas of keeping the precepts, tolerance, diligence, charity, contemplation and wisdom. We can stave off feelings of greed, anger, delusion, arrogance, doubts and evil thoughts. In doing so, we open the Path of the Bodhisathvas by closing the Six Realms of Heaven, Humans, Asuras, Animals, Hungry Ghosts and Hell.
Chanting this mantra not only benefits you, but all living creatures, including animals and insects, so that their souls also become tranquil and full of joy.
The translation of the mantra is below:
Om - the sound of the Universe, and when we chant it, we align our body and mind to flow with the Universe.
Mani - jewel - the jewel of love and compassion.
Padme - lotus flower, which represents the flower of Divine Wisdom.
Hum - helps us transcend illusions and suffering.
